In many ways, a water park is an enormous machine. It pumps vast quantities of water every minute, moves tons of air for ventilation, mitigates humidity and directs water through narrow paths. But that's the last thing guests should think about - they're here for fun. As architects, we work closely with consultants and experts including engineers, landscape architects, and aquatic amenity designers to tie the project into a package that puts the emphasis on guest engagement and entertainment.

As a world-class resort provider, Westgate Resorts sought to give patrons a wide-range of entertainment options. Here at Westgate Smoky Mountains Resort, that desire led to a year-round indoor water park. We carried the exciting rustic theme established by the surrounding buildings and terrain and integrated it into a facility that melds stone, wood and glass on the outside with a high technology aquatic environment on the inside.

Who does what? Who designs the water features? the structure? the shell? the pump system? air handling? how is it sequenced? What knowledge is necessary to understand before the next phase can proceed? Complex projects are like a symphony. Many experts in individual fields come together to complete a project. We work closely with consultants to help unify a cacophony of factors into a coordinated whole.
